Should an athlete qualify for more than one award, in the same year, then only the higher value award will be provided, not the sum of the two.
Annual “automatic” disbursements from the Bursary Fund should not exceed 15% of the fund’s balance. If the sum of the “automatic disbursements” exceeds more than 15% of the fund, then the situation will need to be reviewed by the Race Department and the Race Committee.
It is critical that “annual contributions”, flow into the Bursary Fund, to help replenishment dollars that have been paid out, for the long-term sustainability of the fund. Various forms of Fundraising, Auctions, Raffles, Sponsors, etc. should be part of the annual management of the fund.
The disbursement for a given year (i.e., 2015) sets a concrete fundraising target for the next season (i.e., 2016) as this will establish the minimum amount needed to be raised to refurbish the funds. Thus, we can determine appropriate projects to accomplish same.
If fund raising for the Bursary Fund in a given year (i.e., 2016) does not match the disbursements of the previous year (2015) the Race Committee shall review (with the option to adjust disbursement amounts) the Disbursements amounts for the current year (2016) so as to ensure that the Bursary Fund is sustainable.
